Why You Should Consider a Furnace Replacement

You will want to make sure that your furnace is heating well during these winter months. If your furnace is having issues, you may want to consider a complete replacement to ensure that you are warm all winter long. There are several ways that can help you determine whether or not it is time to replace your furnace.

The Furnace is Making A Strange Noise

All furnaces make noise when they come on. They are large machines pulling air throughout your home, so you can expect to hear that. However, if you start hearing strange noises from your furnace, that can be a strong indicator that something is wrong. If you hear a whining or grinding sound, this can be a sign that your fan motor is going out. If your furnace is making a lot of noise and doing it frequently, it may be time to upgrade.

The Furnace is Over 10 Years Old

Furnaces that are over ten years old are no longer efficient. They may make your energy usage go up significantly, which will increase your utility bills. Newer HVAC units have a higher seer rating and are energy efficient. If your unit is over ten years old, it may also use the refrigerant Freon in it. Freon’s use has been phased out due to it causing harm to the environment. The new refrigerant, 410-A, is safe for the environment. If you have an older machine, you should upgrade to using 410-A.

Repairs Are Needed Often

If your furnace is needing a lot of repairs, you may want to consider upgrading. After a while, you may pay more for the repairs than you would for a new furnace. This is especially true if you start seeing multiple repairs during the winter.

The Furnace is Not Heating Well Enough

If you have cold spots in your house, or your home is just not warm enough, your unit may be sized incorrectly, or the furnace may be failing. If this is happening, it would be best to go ahead and replace the unit. Getting a new unit can ensure that you have a warm house all winter long.
